Sheds, survival, and Strategic Tool Implementation /Sidenote/

Image
Amy and i Have been in Iowa and minnesota the past 2 weekends,  and Ben and Janell have been fighting crime on the hard-scrabble streets of Sherwood.  so we havent done much work on the house.  but we were back at it this past weekend, digging post holes for a retaining wall, working on a compost bin, and tearing apart a creepy old wasp infested shed.  Those metal sheds are not easy to tear apart.   For this weekends Strategic Tool Implementation,  we have a bit of a sidenote.  "What to do if someone is living under your collapsed Shed" is our video today.

Induce my divergence from house stuff, if you would.

This past year, I have found in myself a fresh, and at times overwhelming, desire to explore. This wanderlust is primarily towards the outdoors, but I am finding that I am motivated to new discoveries, adventures, and experiences as almost never before. The house is a direct result of this new push, as is moving to a new town, with a new job, and really a new way of life. I initially decided to get more active with my desire to be outdoors by going camping in my new tacoma, driving out alone onto forest service roads near Detroit lake and camping roadside. Amy joined me and made the adventures all the more fulfilling, though there was something deeply wonderful about being out alone in the cold in a mostly isolated, and completely unexplored place. I initially saw this as a personal quest to become more forceful, more confident, more true to my own desires. You see, I am a painfully passive person when it comes to asserting my will, and too often appease others when my own cour

Ben had this GREAT idea to make these sweet shelves around the fireplace.  so this may be the first element of the house we have actually built. Up until now, everything has been demo.  now i have a place to put my 1,000 piece Precious Moments figurine collection! a few of my personal fav's.   posted from Bloggeroid

Strategic Tool Implementation (STI) video #2: Pick

Image
In this short segment,  we learn the ins and outs of a common back yard tool that has become all the rage in europe.  A simple tool at first glance,  the Pick has a complexity and depth of character reserved for expensive coffee and leather bound journals.  In the hands of a true Pick-enteur,  it becomes a stealth weapon of root destruction.

KROUT

Jon and Kaylee Krout (pronounced "krout",  like "trout, out, shout, and flout") brought their "A" game today.  i mean,  really.  carharrt overalls, high school volleyball shirt, and a winning attitude made the tandem of Jon and Kaylee Krout a welcome addition to the "Labor Day Weekend September America is Beautiful Do This for The Eagles and Wild Horses Work Day". Decommissioned an old and unsightly horseshoe pit (emphasis on the "pit"), lined out a terrace and retaining wall,  separated out a large pile of lumber,  helped plan a front deck,  and oh my,  Kaylee Krout you are a true American, Removing a ridiculous accumulation of cables from around the house, and pulling plants out of the ground by the roots, and i mean really,  PLANTS,  like 6 foot tall bushes with elaborate root networks. Awesome. posted from Bloggeroid
